London Westminster view

But if you want to escape the crowds of visitors and workers that swell Westminster’s daytime – and evening – population far beyond its estimated 250,000 residents, head to Hyde Park – the largest of four Royal Parks in this part of London.

Well-known for its ability to attract a celebrity visitor, including the likes of David Beckham, Hyde Park covers 350 acres and offers a wealth of entertainment all year round. Notable landmarks include the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain and Speakers’ Corner.

In the top right-hand corner of Hyde Park opposite Marble Arch, a range of different self-publicists have gathered at Speakers’ Corner to air their views since 1866 and the tradition continues today.

If listening to speeches has given you a thirst or an appetite, it’s time to head over to Serpentine Lake and grab some refreshments at either the Serpentine Bar & Kitchen or the Lido Restaurant.

A visit to Westminster can almost make you feel like you’ve arrived into the centre of Hollywood with a whole host of film locations around to visit.

Sticking with movie sets, there are a whole bunch of them to check out in Westminster. Films like Harry Potter, The Da Vinci Code and Narnia have all featured some part of Westminster at some point.

Why not head over to Westminster Abbey or Diagon Alley (found in Cecil Court off Charing Cross Road) for a selfie?

If all that activity has restored your appetite, then Westminster is the place to be. Well-known for its celebrity visitors, the Novikov Restaurant offers a delightful evening of food and drinks supported by superb customer service.

If you’re in a hurry and fancy something quick, there are a couple of Nando’s in easy reach. We don’t have to tell you what to expect there, do we? Just in case, chicken, chips and the regular meat eater’s heaven.

At the end of parks, adventure, food there comes a drink, right? Galvin at Windows Bar, sitting 28 floors up the Park Lane Hilton Hotel, is not only a wonderful place to step for a view, it also makes for a pretty exciting cocktail.
